MRU Book Showcase ― Thursday, April 2 from 11 a.m. to noon Faculty are invited to share their recently published books (January 2019 to present) and give a brief presentation. This event will showcase original research, creative works and books edited by MRU faculty members. If you are interested, complete this expression of interest by Feb. 25. Lightning Talks ― Friday, April 3 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The popular Faculty Lightning Talks are back again this year. Interested in making a five-minute presentation on your research/scholarship? The Office of Research, Scholarship and Community Engagement (ORSCE) is introducing their new grants and research facilitator, Yvonne Kjorlien, at two meet and greet sessions. Stop by the ORSCE Boardroom (U265A) on Monday, Jan. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Kjorlien will be a valuable resource for faculty researchers requiring pre-award assistance. 2020 Research Recognition Awards submissions wanted The third-annual Research Recognition Awards opportunity is now open and accepting applications. Five awards will be given to MRU scholars in recognition of outstanding achievements at all career stages and from all disciplines. Details can be found in the criteria document.
Jan. 21 fire drill a success
Campus buildings were emptied within five minutes and the last "all clear" was received at muster points within 12 minutes. To improve our time in the September fire drill, please move directly to the nearest muster point instead of gathering near the entrances. This will permit better flow of people from the buildings.

MRU earns ‘high silver’ STARS sustainability rating
Reaching dharma Associate professor of religious studies Jackie Ho is one of two Buddhist women from Canada to qualify for a dharma instructor ordination. Ho achieved this second-level ordination after serving as a dharma assistant for five years and successfully passing an intensive exam on theory and music. She looks forward to promoting women in leadership roles in the Buddhist tradition and serving the community.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up
As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
