Join us! Pride flag-raising on Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m.
Meet at the flagpole at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, to raise the campus pride flag in celebration of Pride Month and Mount Royal's dedication to inclusivity across campus. The flagpole is located near the Charlton Pond by the TransCanada Amphitheatre. More information.

Check out Residence suites available all year
All employees are invited to Residence Services' Building B next to the soccer field this Thursday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to view the show suite and hotel suite. Tours leave every 30 minutes. Free popcorn and refreshments will be available, and prizes will be handed out. More information.

MRSA credit course tuition reimbursement

Maker Studio moves into new home this week
Library staff members are packing boxes and arranging furniture to move the Maker Studio down the hall to EL1245 (behind the Service Desk). The studio will be closed today and tomorrow (June 13 and 14) to allow for the move. More information.

Science student takes second place at 101st Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition
Student Jordan Hofmeister recently won second place in the Graduate/Undergraduate Student Oral Competition category at the 101st Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition, held by the Canadian Society for Chemistry from May 27 to 31. Read more.

Alumnus wins two prestigious graduate scholarships
Bachelor of Science ― Health Science (2017) grad Brandon Shokoples has won a Canadian Graduate Scholarship ― Master's Program worth $17,500 and the Lady Davis Institute/TD Studentship award worth $10,000. Read more.

Professor Lynn Moorman receives Influencer of the Year award
Professor Lynn Moorman, PhD, of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, received the Influencer of the Year award on June 7 at Tecterras's North51 Connect event in recognition of her accomplishments in the geospatial industry. Read more.

Research on the effects of helicopter parenting shared
On May 23, Tom Buchanan, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, delivered his research, "Exploring the Impacts of Helicopter Parenting and Parental Contact on University Students in the United States: Well-Being, Drug Use, and Self-Efficacy," at the University of Colombo's Department of Sociology Lecture Series. English professor Natalie Meisner’s (PhD) play, “Legislating Love: The Everett Klippert Story,” has been nominated for a Betty Mitchell Award in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Mark Bellamy’s portrayal of the character Handsome. Read more.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (Aug./Sept. and Dec./Jan.), areas with ongoing employee activites can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
