Cougars Campus Store grand opening Jan. 14
Come by the new Cougars Campus Store (the former BookStore) from
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 and receive 25 per cent off all MRU and Cougars clothing. The first 500 buying customers receive a free Glamorgan Bakery cookie.

Annual report now available online
The University's 2017/18 annual report is now available online. The report is a detailed accounting of Mount Royal's performance against the goals of the Comprehensive Institutional Plan (2017 to 2020) and includes the audited financial statements. A limited number of hard copies will be available later this month. Contact marketingandcommunications@mtroyal.ca to inquire.

Alumni Achievement Awards nominations open until Jan. 25
Celebrate our alumni through the annual Alumni Achievement Awards. Nominate a deserving former student who has achieved significant success early in their career, has made a significant impact in their professional practice and through community involvement, or who deserves recognition for a lifetime of excellence in professional or personal endeavours. Nominate a student for the Outstanding Future Alumni Award
New this year, nominate a current student for the prestigious $5,000 Outstanding Future Alumni Award. Nominees must have significantly achieved within and/or contributed to Mount Royal University or the community, and be in good academic standing. 2nd annual Employee Wellness Fair takes place Jan. 30
Drop by the Lincoln Park Room (J301) any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 for the Employee Wellness Fair. Open to staff and faculty, the fair provides information about wellness-related resources on campus. Findings from the 2018 employee wellness consultations and survey will be shared and healthy snacks will be provided.

Don't freeze out Suzy and Grace!
Unless you need to use an automatic door, please use revolving doors at entrances. Frequent use of the automatic doors allows a lot of cold air to enter the building, especially at East Gate (freezing out Suzy and Grace at Starbucks, too).

Public Recreation members can now park for free
MRU Cougars Athletics and Recreation is now offering public memberships that include parking. Learn more about the benefits of a public Recreation membership at MRU.

Community Mobile Food Market coming to Wyckham House
The Community Mobile Food Market (CMFM) is a community-driven grocery store on wheels, increasing the availability of healthy and affordable foods in Calgary. Open every Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. (January through March) in Wyckham House, the market has a variety of fresh produce, eggs, bread and some non-perishables, all budget-friendly and usually under market value. Bring your own bag. Cash, debit and credit accepted.

Compelling Calgarians
Provost Lesley Brown, PhD, and alumnus Paul Shumlich were each named one of the Calgary Herald's 20 Compelling Calgarians. In addition to being a proven administrator, Brown is an accomplished scholar in the field of kinesiology, and Shumlich is growing Deepwater Farms, an aquaponics business he started while still a student at Mount Royal.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (Aug./Sept. and Dec./Jan.), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
