Reminder to complete the Code of Conduct disclosure form Effective July 1, Mount Royal has a new Code of Conduct mandated by changes to the Conflicts of Interest Act affecting public sector employees in Alberta. All employees are required to complete the electronic disclosure form by Sept. 30. Employees have until July 31 to complete cybersecurity training On July 31, the Basic IT Security Awareness 2019 course will be removed from Blackboard. If you have not completed this training or attended a workshop by then, you will not have met your cybersecurity training requirement for this year. This training must be completed annually. Forward suspicious emails to abuse@mtroyal.ca ITS protects the institution from known threats, but employees are the first line of defence against unknown threats, including phishing emails. New director of nursing announced
Elizabeth Van Den Kerkhof, PhD, has taken on the position of director of Mount Royal’s School of Nursing and Midwifery. For the past 18 years, Van Den Kerkhof has been a member of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. She has been deeply involved in research, particularly related to pain-related complex conditions, and has co-authored many peer-reviewed publications, held substantial peer-reviewed funding, participated on many committees and helped develop several educational programs. Faculty member to work with World Health Organization From Aug. 22 to 23, in Geneva, Switzerland, chair and associate professor for the Department of Health and Physical Education, Christy Tomkins-Lane, PhD, will participate and inform the development of the World Health Organization’s 2021 Global Report on Effective Access to Assistive Technology. Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up
As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
