New Student Orientation (NSO) volunteers needed
Several volunteers are still required to successfully run NSO. Help get those new to campus started off on the right foot. See all available positions here. Staff and faculty are also invited to attend the welcome ceremony on Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. in the Triple Gym with keynote speaker, Noor Tagouri, as well as the Brain Pop and Carnival. Presidential search website now live
You have the knowledge and experience necessary to assist the Board of Governors and Presidential Search Committee in seeking a successor to our current president. The presidential search website is now live and provides opportunities to add your input to the position profile (or job description) and describes how the process will be carried out.

Banner 9 team improves student locker services
Parking and Transportation is working with the Banner 9 Project team to implement a new cloud-based tool for renting lockers that is integrated with MyMRU. This will both improve the student experience and offer Parking significantly better options for managing locker services and payments. Students will now be able to use their phones to choose and pay for a locker and view maps to find the most convenient location for them.

Transitional Vocational Program (TVP) volunteer opportunity
The TVP and the Adult Literacy Tutoring Service (ALTS) requires volunteer tutors for the 2018/2019 academic year. Assisting helps learners with mild disabilities prepare for employment and independent living. Training is provided and the commitment is approximately one and a half to two hours per week from September to April. Contact Olivia Parsons for more information.

Professor Sonya Jakubec, PhD, has announced a pilot food literacy research project being carried out through the Centre for Child Well-Being and supported by an anonymous donor, the same benefactor who provided funds for the development of the Centre and Mount Royal’s Child Development Lab. IT: Working with Google Docs

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (Aug./Sept. and Dec./Jan.), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
