Chance to change your benefits coverage Aug. 16 to Sept. 15
Eligible full-time employees have a one-time chance to make changes to their health, dental and optional life insurance coverage without the usual requirement of a major life change. Learn about the new features in the benefits plan here. Reply by Sept. 15 to the email you received from benefits@mtroyal.ca called "Choose your Sun Life coverage beginning Aug. 16."


Employee barbecue Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kick off a new academic year and celebrate all employees for their year-round contributions in support of student success on Tuesday. Enjoy a barbecue lunch and door prizes on either the East Gate lawn (weather permitting) or at Ross Glen Hall. This event takes the place of the President's Fall Address and Employee Awards for this year only. There will be brief program from 12:30 to 1 p.m., with entertainment and remarks by the presidents of MRSA, MRFA and MRU. RSVP here.

Four new appointments as Board of Governors Research Chairs highlight the exceptional scholarly work of a diverse cadre of professors at Mount Royal University. Institute for Community Prosperity launches fellowship
The Catalyst Fellowship is a cohort-based learning experience for students committed to building a more just and sustainable future. Fellows will explore the root causes of ecological, social, economic and cultural issues. They will also collaborate across sectors and engage multiple stakeholders to deepen their ability to make meaningful change in their communities. Find more information here.

Associate Professor Kirk Niergarth, PhD, of the Department of Humanities, Assistant Professor Sean Carleton of the Department of General Education and University of Alberta post-doctoral student Julia Smith are the authors of a museum-style exhibit about the 1919 Calgary General Strike, currently on display at the Calgary Central Library. Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
