Please report flooding on campus

The Facilities Management team is preparing for possible flooding from damaged pipes and the thawing of ground that is much more frozen than usual. Please report any flooding at 403.440.6417.


Fire drill on Monday, March 25 at 10 a.m.
This practice fire drill is expected to take up to 30 minutes and includes a mandatory evacuation of all Lincoln Park campus buildings except Residences. Everyone must participate. Learn more here.


Year-end furniture orders due March 29

Please submit orders for new furniture to Frontline by March 29 so they can be filled by the June 30 year-end cutoff. Orders typically take eight to 12 weeks to fill. Select the "purchase new/purchase furniture" option in Frontline to prioritize orders. Furniture must arrive by the close of business on Fri., June 28 to be expensed to the current fiscal year. Meet a new Mount Royal Wellness Hero
Each month, Wellness Heroes showcases Mount Royal employees who incorporate wellness into their daily routine. Meet Zoe Say, program and engagement director for the YYC Campus Ministry who facilitates weekly drum circles here on the MRU campus.

Submit applications to teach in the Visualization Classroom
Teach your next course in the Visualization Classroom on the main floor of the University Library. This space showcases research and elevates educational content with innovative technology and in-room experts to provide training. Faculty must apply by April 5 for upcoming semesters. Watch for ice and gravel on walkways
Icy patches from snow melt and excess gravel from snow removal may increase the risk of slips and falls. Walk around icy patches and use extra caution when walking on graveled paths.

Reminder about University being politically neutral

SoTL grant opportunities now open in ROMEO
Applications for the 2019 Essential SoTL Grants with Criteria, 2019 Special Topics Grants, 2019 TransCanada Collaborative SoTL Grants and 2019 Undergraduate Student Dissemination Grants are now being accepted in ROMEO. The application deadline is Mon., April 1, 2019.

Library Awards for Research Excellence
Applications are open for these awards which recognize scholarly projects and where students can receive up to $1,500. The application deadline is Wed., April 10, 2019. Get more information here or contact Madelaine Vanderwerff.


Enhancing campus safety
Security Services is improving safety infrastructure on campus with: new software in security cameras that learns normal movement patterns and alerts Security of anything unusual; six new blue light stations outdoors so users can more readily reach Security; and, over the next year, replacement of keyed access and upgraded magnetic readers.

Bleed Blue – Celebrating MRU

Two new publications for School of Nursing and Midwifery profs
School of Nursing and Midwifery associate professor Tammy Sherrow's book Preemie Care (Page Two Books) focuses on a community engagement agenda and provides health literacy and support for parents of premature babies. Associate professor Katherine Janzen's book Artistic Pedagogical Technologies (Vernon Press) concentrates on practical teaching strategies for faculty in higher education, including online learning.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
