Description:HTTP to HTTPS
On Monday, Feb. 4, Mount Royal’s website will be updated to use HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) instead of HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol). With enhanced security, users will no longer receive the "not secure" browser warning that can cause them to mistrust the website and leave.
Frontline temporarily out of service from Feb. 1 to 4
The Frontline on-demand work request system will be out of service while Facilities Management makes improvements from Feb. 1 to 4. Payroll office now open during lunch
The payroll office in Human Resources is now open daily over the noon hour to increase service to the campus community. Payroll is located in E208. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Budget 101 presentation now available online
If you missed the Budget 101 presentation this month from Connie Young, AVP Finance and Risk Management, and Evan Cortens, manager, Academic Initiatives, it is now available on MyMRU/Financial Matters. The presentation explains the basics of costs and revenue and how the budget is built. Similar information sessions are being planned.
Keep liquids out of mixed recycle bins
Please empty your disposable coffee and cold drink cups before putting them in the mixed recycle bins. Liquids contaminate the bin contents, which means everything in the bin must go to the landfill. More recycling tips can be found here.

Support for national workshop on human trafficking
Professor John Winterdyke, PhD, of the Department of Economics, Justice and Policy Studies, recently received a grant from the Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development to deliver a national workshop on human trafficking. The project is part of India's Global Initiative of Academic Networks, which recruits international experts to engage with the institutes of higher education in India.
SHRCC Explore grant awarded for study on ritual polyphony
Professor Steven Engler, PhD, along with three Brazilian colleagues, was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Explore grant (through the MRU Internal Research Grant Fund process) and a Collaborative International Research Grant from the American Academy of Religion for a project on Ritual Polyphony in Afro-Brazilian Religions. As each semester begins (Aug./Sept. and Dec./Jan.), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates.
