Map the System team heading to finals
For the third year in a row, MRU is sending a team to Oxford for the global Map the System finals. The interdisciplinary Team Kistoonon, which includes five students enrolled in four different faculties, were chosen from among 15 schools across the country. The team is examining the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada. Read more.

The Calgary Journal nets a CAJ Award
Three journalism students have won the 2018 Canadian Association of Journalists Student Award for Excellence. The award recognized the project Lost in the System, which charts the difficulties of transgender people accessing transition services in Alberta. Mount Royal students have now won the excellence award five times in the past six years.

MacEwan University bestows award on Scharie Tavcer, PhD
The 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award, established in 1986, is the highest form of recognition presented by MacEwan. Associate professor Scharie Tavcer teaches in the Department of Economics, Justice and Policy Studies at Mount Royal, and previously worked for Correctional Services Canada.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
