2015 VRCA Awards of Excellence announced

Graham Construction and Engineering took top honours at the 2015 Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s (VRCA) Awards of Excellence, winning a Gold general contractor award for the YVR Airside Operations Building (see http://www.reminetwork.com/articles/improving-safety-yvr/).

The company also took home the VRCA Member of the Year Award, and a Safety Award for achieving a zero frequency injury rate in the category.

Other VRCA Gold winners in the general contractor category include Mierau Contractors for UFV Student Centre (pictured above) and PCL Constructors Westcoast for the Vancouver Aquarium Expansion and Revitalization project.

Each year, the VRCA recognizes the best companies, individuals and projects in the construction industry.  In this year’s competition, 128 entrants and 37 projects were considered. The total value of projects considered in this year’s competition represented close to $500 million of construction throughout B.C.

The association’s Gold Awards went to 11 winners for their use of special techniques and procedures, new materials and additional artistic or innovative features in their projects. New this year was the Judge’s Award, which went to ITC Construction Group for the Ronald McDonald House B.C. and Lafarge Canada for Mossum Creek Hatchery Rebuild.

The VRCA Lifetime Achievement Award went to Paul Myers, KPH while Grant McMillan was inducted into VRCA’s life members.
