Speaker bio: D’Arcy Richardson, RN, PHN, CNS, MSN has tried almost everything once. After an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University, she took advantage of diverse employment opportunities, including veterinary assistant, World Wildlife Fund intern, wholesale florist, waitress, hazardous waste site communications specialist, and global vagabond before deciding on a career in public health. She received a Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing from the University of California San Francisco and has worked in TB control with the United States Agency for International Development, PATH (Seattle), KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (Netherlands), and World Health Organization/Stop TB Partnership. She has served on numerous global committees and task forces, and has authored many manuals and papers on TB-related topics. She has managed multi-year, multi-million dollar TB projects in countries across the globe, and has a particular passion for teaching about patient empowerment and person-centered approaches to health care.
