Lisa Bate, Canada’s elected representative to the World Green Building Council, has been named Regional Managing Principal for B+H Architects North America. Bate comes to the role following four years spent in B+H’s Shanghai division, helping to drive the firm’s strategic growth in Asia.

“The attitudes towards energy performance in China are completely changing,” said Bate on her time in China. “There has been a major shift towards office health and sustainable practices and we were able to respond with world class design that spoke to these pillars.”

Bate brings 30 years of experience in sustainable architecture and interior design to the position, including several projects in North America such as B+H’s new Toronto sports venues for the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, Ottawa’s Convention Centre Redevelopment and Markham Stouffville Hospital, among others. In her new position, Bate will draw on her experience to support the company’s partners and clients in Toronto, Seattle, Vancouver and Calgary.

“Lisa will quickly become an invaluable asset for our North American practices and clients,” said B+H CEO Bill Nankivell, in a press release. “Her global perspective and unrivalled passion for sustainability elevate the already strong quality of our team here.”

B+H Architects is a firm with over 60 years of history that is responsible for building some of the most recognizable buildings in Canada and around the world. It is one of the largest design firms in North America and is listed on the WA100 2016 as the 59th largest practice in the world.
