A new scholarship honouring the memory of Robert (Bob) Ledingham will support interior designers and educators in their pursuit of higher education, the Interior Designers of Canada and IDC Foundation announced May 7.

Ledingham, one of Canada’s most celebrated interior designers, had a passion for education. He is credited as a leader in the development of North America’s educational accreditation process for interior design.

“Bob’s contribution to the profession was immeasurable,” said IDC CEO Susan Wiggins. “His scholarship will continue to give back to interior design through the value that further education brings to our profession.”

To be awarded annually each September, the Robert Ledingham Scholarship will go to one or more candidates either enrolled in or recently accepted into their first year of masters- or doctorate-level graduate school. The $2,000 scholarship will be funded through memorial donations and a matching grant from Ledingham’s estate, donated by Ledingham’s partner, Robert Lemon.
