Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) in partnership with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) will be expanding the popular IDC Leaders Breakfast series to a new Canadian city. The eight-city event makes two Canadian stops annually with 2015 marking the event’s ninth year in Canada.

Traditionally held in Toronto and Vancouver, the Leaders Breakfast will be expanding this year with the addition of a new host city: Calgary. Toronto will remain as one of the Canadian stops, and beginning in 2015, the second stop will alternate between cities each year to give the event a more national presence. In Toronto, the Leaders Breakfast will take place as part of IIDEXCanada on December 2, 2015 and in Calgary as part of BUILDEX Calgary on November 5, 2015.

As part of the Leaders Breakfast series, a local individual who has exhibited exemplary leadership and/or outstanding contribution to the profession of interior design is awarded with the Leadership Award of Excellence. Tireless volunteer and association advocate Adele Bonetti will be presented with the award in Calgary, and in Toronto, Shauna Levy, president of the Design Exchange will receive the coveted award.

“Our honourees can be linked to the advancement of interior design across Canada, each having contributed significantly in their own, unique way,” says IDC CEO, Susan Wiggins. “Their commitment to the profession is reflected in the countless hours they have dedicated to the promotion and growth of the profession.”

The keynote address in Calgary will be delivered by Chris Fields, senior brand strategist, Twist Marketing, and in Toronto, Zita Cobb, president and CEO of Shorefast Foundation, and founder and innkeeper of the Fogo Island Inn will present on the synergistic relationship of design with nature, community and culture.
