Dr. Trevor Day is an integrative cardiorespiratory, cerebrovascular and acid-base physiologist committed to physiology education through his teaching, laboratory and field-based research in basic and applied human physiology. His federally-funded research program (NSERC Discovery; 2016-Present) engages undergraduate students in all aspects of the research endeavor, integrating his teaching, mentoring and research activities.

His research interests include the integrated physiological responses to acute and chronic blood gas challenges, and he is a leader in organizing high altitude research expeditions. His current scholarly and outreach work includes research in basic and applied human physiology, physiology education and science communication. He also has an active interest in science communication, particularly how scientists can better engage the public in the importance and relevance of the scientific endeavor.

Dr. Day is a member of the American Physiological Society and the UK Phycological Society, and serves in editorial roles with the journals FACETS (Canadian Science Publishing) and Frontiers in Physiology. He served as a committee member, alternate and section chair of the NSERC Discovery grant evaluation group 1502 (Biological Systems and Functions; 2020-2022). Of note, Dr. Day was presented with the University of Calgary, 2019 Hotchkiss Brain Institute and 2020 Cumming School of Medicine Alumnus of Distinction awards. He was recently appointed to Royal Society of Canada as a Member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists (2020-2027).
