Join our panel of experts as they discuss the ins and outs of starting a podcast. Learn how to promote yourself, equipment needed, different formats of podcasting, and so much more. Whether you’re brand new to the world of podcasting or looking for a few tips and tricks to amp up your game, this panel is not to be missed!

Registration will close one hour before the start of the panel. You will receive an email reminder one hour before the start time with a link to Google Meet where the event will take place.

This session will be recorded. All registrants will receive a link to the recording after the panel concludes.

Our panelists include:

  • Meg Wilcox

Before joining MRU's Journalism department as an assistant professor, Meg Wilcox worked across the country as a host, reporter and producer for many media outlets, including CBC, CTV, iPolitics, Banff Centre Radio, and CKUA. Much of her work focuses on podcasting -- she works with clients across Alberta as a podcast producer and consultant, and teaches MRU's first podcasting class.

  • Julia Gunst

Julia Gunst is the Public Services Assistant in Audiovisual Support at the Mount Royal University Library. She’s spent several years working in various communications roles and honing her skills in media production. She’s a passionate believer in grassroots media and making media production skills more accessible. Working at the library combines these interests with past experiences in public facing roles.

  • Jeff Evans-Todd

Jeff Evans-Todd is an award winning actor, who began his career in Vancouver by giving voices to several animated characters in Lego's "Legends of Chima” for a couple of seasons. Since then, he has worked as an actor on several independent projects, cartoons, video games, and many TV shows, including: SyFy's “Olympus,”  A&E's "Bates Motel," ABC's "When We Rise," and The CW’s “Supernatural.” Jeff has been and will forever be spellbound by storytelling, whether it be visual or auditory, and looks forward to a lifetime of continuing that very human tradition. 

  • Dakota Kidby and Alyssa Berry

Dakota Kidby is a local social media marketing consultant and owns Calgary-based digital marketing consultancy Social Centric Inc. Before honing her chops to brave the interweb full-time, she dabbled in and was formally trained in public relations, where she worked for two large non-profits and an agency. 

Alyssa Berry has 18 years of marketing and communications experience in government, recreation, culture, and tourism. In 2015, Alyssa launched Alyssa Berry Communications, a boutique firm specializing in powerful brand storytelling for purpose-driven organizations. 

Together, Dakota and Alyssa host and produce the 'Ladies Who Launch' podcast.

  • Matthew Cauz

Matthew Cauz is a radio host for the show ‘Game Day’ on TSN 1050 and a writer for www.cfl.ca. He also hosts two podcasts, ‘The Macko & Cauz’ Podcast and 'Matt Talks Wine and Stuff with Interesting People' Podcast.
