IKEA plans to open a 325,000-square-foot store in Dartmouth Crossing, a popular shopping and entertainment destination in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Scheduled for completion in August 2017, the IKEA will be nestled into a cluster of other high quality international retailers, and among current anchors including Home Depot, Cineplex Cinemas, Canadian Tire and Walmart.

IKEA and a new 50, 000 square foot Cabela’s store will anchor an expansion of the site in lands north of Wright Avenue. Upon opening, the destination will feature more than 1.8 million square feet shopping space.

“We’re very proud of what we’ve built at Dartmouth Crossing and it’s great to have the iconic retailer IKEA choose our development as the place to be in Atlantic Canada,” said Glenn Munro, vice-president of Dartmouth Crossing Ltd. “We have big plans to build on the momentum of IKEA opening in 2017.”
