The collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of information are the hallmarks of library and information science. As this field is based upon understandings of knowledge and information, and with so much at stake for Native communities’ stories, documents, and histories, the use of Indigenous systems of knowledge as an intellectual construct should be critical to research and teaching. Sandra Littletree, PhD will explore a conceptual model that contains integral components of the philosophical basis of Indigenous systems of knowledge. The model will be offered as a tool to help library workers imagine how they can make spaces for Indigenous perspectives in their institution.

This presentation will take place in EA 1031 Moot Court (The location of this event was updated on May 28).
