January 2016, Vol. 2 No. 1
Live well and get connected!

A new year often means setting new goals. One of my goals for this year is spending more time in nature. Another one of my goals, along with the rest of the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving team, is to come up with innovative ways to support our alumni while enhancing programming to give you more valuable and flexible opportunites to get involved.

In this issue of True Blue, you'll learn how you can update your contact information to be entered to win a fitness package valued at over $600 (special thanks to Mount Royal Recreation for its contribution to the prize). You can also improve your chances of winning by telling us your 2016 goals in our
LinkedIn Group and on Twitter. I can't wait to read everyone's goals and work with the team to help you achieve them!

Happy New Year! I'm looking forward to 2016, and I hope to run into some of you at the Crowchild Classic Sadddledome game on Jan. 21.

.
-Buffy St-Amand, Manager Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

Alumni Groups

Ever wonder what being a member of an Alumni Group means? Not sure what groups do or what they offer?

Alumni Group programming falls under our four pillars of alumni engagement. As a group member you can simply be notified of, and participate in events and programs or you can get involved in the planning process. The extent of your involvement is up to you.

1. Social: provides opportunities to get together, connect face-to-face and have fun.
2. Continuous Learning: explore interests, learn and discover new ideas, share experiences.
3. Professional Development: learn new skills, meet industry leaders and advance your career.
5. Philanthropy: support MRU by offering time, talent and treasure toward the University's strategic vision.

Participate in a LinkedIn study for employers
What factors influence how hirable MRU graduates are in the eyes of employers? This is the question driving a research project currently being conducted by Bissett School of Business faculty members Harris Rubin, David Finch, and Leah Hamilton.

LinkedIn profiles are one way for MRU graduates to signal the value they can bring to employers. This research project asks employers to rate LinkedIn profiles to better understand what characteristics are viewed as desirable in MRU graduates.

If you (or someone you know) are involved in making hiring decisions at work and are interested in participating in this research, please

This research has received ethics clearance from MRU and your decision to participate (or not) has no impact on your relationship with MRU or any other organization.
